Growing Large Succulent Tomatoes
Tomatoes can be very easy to grow. Just plant the seeds/seedlings in a sunny spot, either in the ground or in a container, and then properly nurture them. Although it is not necessary, you may want to prune them in order to produce larger fruit and protect the plants against disease.
To obtain large fruit you should remove excess foliage which competes for sunlight and nutrients that could otherwise go into fruit development. Look for "suckers" which grow in the crotch between the main stem and a branch on your tomato plant. If you let the sucker grow it would eventually turn into a full-sized branch. To remove it, just pinch it off with your fingers. If a sucker is too big to pinch then use clean (disinfected) shears to prune. Remember, it is less stressful to prune early when the tomato plant is small. Pruning all the suckers and leaves found below the first flower cluster will promote strong stems and generate large succulent tomatoes on the vine.
Your tomato plants will need support to keep the vines off the ground. Tomato plants also require sufficient sunlight (approx. 8 hrs/day), consistent watering, and a correct fertilizing schedule. Organic fertilizers are best for this application because they are not water soluble and release their nutrients slowly, as needed by the tomato plant. Healthy crop production of any kind requires good soil fertility, aeration, percolation, and water-holding capacity. Organic fertilizers, especially processed chicken manure like Chick Magic facilitate these requirements via enhanced microbial activity in the soil.
Another terrific and unique benefit of using processed chicken manure like Chick Magic organic fertilizer on tomatoes is that it contains abundant calcium which is needed to prevent blossom end-rot. Blossom end-rot is identified by a discolored, sunken spot at the blossom end of the fruit, usually tomatoes. The spot will start small then grow larger and darker as the fruit continues to grow. This causes the fruit to ripen prematurely, resulting in inedible fruit. Blossom end-rot is caused by a calcium deficiency and inconsistent watering.
Furthermore, processed chicken manure organic fertilizer like Chick Magic contains abundant natural phosphorous which promotes strong root formation; and, it contains natural potassium which promotes fruit formation. Obviously, processed chicken manure organic fertilizer like Chick Magic is "user-friendly" and naturally formulated for tomatoes.
When properly nurtured, you should have abundant, prize-winning, mouth-watering, tomatoes within 55-90 days depending on the variety planted (i.e., Cherry tomatoes, Beefsteak, etc).
